Teacher
I am a teacher of all ages, from elementary students to seniors.
I began my career after receiving my teaching degree through the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I taught high school English at Nazareth Academy in La Grange Park and the University of Chicago Laboratory School in Chicago.
I then turned to college teaching, where I taught at Columbia College Chicago’s First Year Writing Program. I presented several talks on bringing the college’s yearly Critical Encounters theme into the classroom.
In 2014, I taught a Poetry Workshop and Discussion Group for the Lincoln Park Village with my partner and fellow poet, Todd McCarty. Together we worked with seniors, ages ranging from 70-90, to become deeper readers and writers.
Private Tutor
As a private tutor, I coach and mentor students from elementary to high school age. I have worked with students on improving their vocabulary, preparation for ACT and SAT, essay writing, and creative writing.
